Want to Write a DEVOTIONAL for our Newsletter?

Topics: Women, volunteer

wm-202010-03

Have you noticed we have various women who write our monthly devotional? Devotions lead us to the heart of God and help us live as a disciple. They can stir us and direct us to the scripture in a way we can apply to our everyday life. Our newsletter needs devotionals that are story based, share a struggle, and show what God taught you based on a specific scripture. Want to give it a try?

First, pray. Ask the Lord what He wants to say to the women through you.

Second, journal your stories. Ask God to bring you stories from your life as you read the scripture. It might be something funny or that touches the heart. The stories will give you various topics to choose from.

Third, pray as you read through the stories and allow the Holy Spirit to draw you to a compelling topic that relates well to women. Then, select the topic and the story, just be sure it will illustrate a scripture.

Fourth, get started. No doubt you will write, rewrite, delete, then write some more. Perfection is not needed, just authentic desire to lead a sister in Christ to the heart of God through scripture. Avoid getting bogged down in the details of the story or veering away from the main topic.

Specifics: 300-500 words, write out the scripture reference, add a prayer or application question, if desired. Send it to Pastor Andrea at astephens@asburytulsa.org for feedback and possible publication. Have fun!

Worship with Us on Sunday

Asbury's mission is Helping Others Follow Jesus. We are all about being and making disciples. It's not one or the other: … It's both for us. We follow Jesus, but we are actively seeking to help others follow Him, too. We believe that following Jesus is the key to life here and now, and eternally. So remember: be a disciple, and make disciples.
