Informing Young Adults - November 2019

Topics: Young Adults and Families, Community

ya-201911aWelcome to the second Young Adult and Family Newsletter! If you missed the first one, the goal of these newsletters is to inform and encourage the young adults and families here at Asbury about all that we have going on here. This month, there is a short devotional about the trenches of life, a testimony from one of the young adults in Chainbreakers, and a couple exciting announcements!

As a recap from October’s Newsletter, I wanted to remind everyone of how Asbury approaches Young Adult Ministry. The term “young adult” can be ambiguous, and so we break up young adults based on demographic, rather than age. This allows us to meet the needs of those in the various and multiple life stages that happen between the ages of 18-35. This also helps to create sustainable and strategic discipleship, something that is key in the life of every believer as they grow in Christ and learn how to help others follow Jesus.

  • We have the 18.22 Group for those between the ages of 18-22. We meet Sunday nights at 6 pm in Room 2901 for worship and Bible study. We also have retreats, missions, and campus visits to involve those who are away at university as well.
  • Chainbreakers is a Discipleship Community for young adults 22-35! We meet Sunday mornings at 9:30 am in Room 2500. We have Home Groups that are a great place to plug into community, we have monthly social events, as well as various serving opportunities, retreats, and mission trips.
  • Young families have several Sunday Discipleship Community options! We also have Parentology, a twice a year free dinner and workshop to help equip and encourage parents!

I would love to help anyone who is interested learn more or get involved in any of the many things we have here at Asbury! At any time, feel free to me at or 918.636.6478 so that I can help make Asbury your church home.

Worship with Us on Sunday

Asbury's mission is Helping Others Follow Jesus. We are all about being and making disciples. It's not one or the other: … It's both for us. We follow Jesus, but we are actively seeking to help others follow Him, too. We believe that following Jesus is the key to life here and now, and eternally. So remember: be a disciple, and make disciples.
