How Small Groups Have Thrived During Quarantine

Topics: Student Ministry, Students, parents

At the beginning of the safer at home measures being implemented in our city, we knew that staying in contact with our students would become more difficult. However, I want to highlight and give thanks to our amazing small group leaders that have stepped up and have continued to reach out to students during this time! Small group leaders and students have continued to meet over zoom calls.

Colt Johnson and Steve Area’s small group has been an excellent example of small group leaders meeting their group's needs during this time. By playing Jackbox games over Zoom calls, they have provided their students with much needed connection, laughter, and fun. It’s difficult (if not impossible!) for Shelby, Katie and I to have individual contact with every single student each week. Our small group leaders have stood in the ga in a huge way to continue the ministry of Asbury Students. There have been many phone calls, texts, online games, zoom, calls, and letters written to students by our amazing small group leaders during this time. I am SO proud of our small group leaders and all that they have done this year for Asbury Students!

Worship with Us on Sunday

Asbury's mission is Helping Others Follow Jesus. We are all about being and making disciples. It's not one or the other: … It's both for us. We follow Jesus, but we are actively seeking to help others follow Him, too. We believe that following Jesus is the key to life here and now, and eternally. So remember: be a disciple, and make disciples.
