“In a world of algorithms, hashtags, and followers, know the true importance of human connection” - author unknown
We are made to have connection with others. God created us to live in community as we engage, encourage, and journey together through life. Studies even show social connection improves physical health and psychological well-being. As women, we can let our day to day duties take precedence over this desire to simply interact with other women. In a busy world, it takes intention to seek these connections and can seem like an additional chore as we search for opportunities. However, there can be a vast reward for making the effort to connect with other women.
There is power when Christian women unite, and this becomes a beautiful thing when sisters in Christ join together. The Kingdom of God can be multiplied, and relationships strengthened as we engage with others and Jesus is at the core of these interactions. Laughter, fellowship, and authenticity among women produces moments that matter in life and can even ignite new friendships.
I have experienced this connection in my own life. Serving on the women’s ministry event team over the last year has allowed me to meet many women from the church in all seasons of life at the different women’s events. I have enjoyed meeting these women and hearing their individual stories. As women, we may all have unique journeys, but there is a thread of relatability between women and it’s neat to see where our paths cross and how the Lord brings us together. I am also part of a Discipleship Community at Asbury and I have met some of my dearest friends in this class. Many of us are raising our kids together and have lifted each other up in prayer, support, and love for several years. These women are so special to me and their friendships are true blessings in my life. I feel that I am not alone and have a place to turn in celebrations and struggles as we simply do life together.
There are so many ways the women of Asbury can connect. We invite you to COME to the women’s events planned this year. There are nights of worship and inspiration, opportunities for food and fellowship, avenues to serve, road trips, and the ever-popular BUNCO events. They all include time to connect with other women right here at the church and other women in the Tulsa area as visitors are always welcome to join in the fun. Make connection a priority in 2020 and come and join us!
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another- and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” - Hebrews 10:24-25
